Verified Mod Authors

Terms of Service & Guidelines

These guidelines define the requirements, responsibilities, and expectations for Verified Mod Authors (VMAs) participating in the Deadlock Mod Manager (DMM) Commission System. By applying for or maintaining Verified Mod Author status, you agree to follow these guidelines.

Version 1.0 · Last updated: 25 October 2026

1.AI-Generated Content

DMM strongly values creativity, originality, and the effort that goes into creating mods.

Requesters may pay significant amounts of money for a Mod Author to personally create something for them. We believe they deserve genuine creative work, not content primarily generated by artificial intelligence.

  • The use of generative AI to create commissioned mod content is generally prohibited.
  • Mods must be created primarily through the Mod Author's own skills, knowledge, and creative effort.
  • Minor AI assistance that does not directly generate mod content, such as debugging or learning, may be acceptable.
  • Exceptions must be discussed with and approved by the DMM Team before use.

2.Modding Qualifications

To qualify as a Verified Mod Author, applicants must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and experience in at least one of the following categories:

  • HUD Mods: Advanced HUD modifications involving custom functionality, layouts, or significant UI changes (similar to QOLLock). Simple image or texture replacements do not qualify on their own.
  • Skin Mods: Custom skins involving meaningful creative work beyond basic recolors or texture replacements.
  • Model Swaps: Replacing, modifying, or creating character, weapon, or other in-game models.

Additional Skills

  • Sound & Particle Swaps: These are recognized as modding skills but are generally not sufficient on their own to qualify for VMA status.

Applicants are not required to be experienced in every category.

Simply using automated tools, websites, or existing templates to create basic modifications does not automatically qualify someone for VMA status.

The DMM Team evaluates applicants based on their technical knowledge, creativity, independence, and the overall quality of their work.

Exceptions may be made for applicants who demonstrate exceptional skill or creativity, at the discretion of the DMM Team.

3.Quality Standards

Verified Mod Authors are expected to maintain reasonable quality standards.

  • Mods should function as described and meet the agreed requirements.
  • Authors should test their mods before delivering them whenever reasonably possible.
  • Known issues or limitations must be communicated to the requester.
  • Authors should make reasonable efforts to resolve issues caused by their own work.
  • Delivering intentionally broken, misleading, or substantially incomplete mods is not acceptable.

DMM does not expect every mod to be perfect, but we do expect authors to take responsibility for their work.

4.Communication & Professionalism

Verified Mod Authors are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally with requesters and other community members.

  • Treat requesters and other authors with respect.
  • Clearly communicate what is technically possible before accepting a commission.
  • Inform requesters about significant delays, complications, or changes.
  • Do not intentionally mislead requesters regarding your abilities, progress, or the quality of your work.
  • Maintain reasonable communication throughout an active commission.

Disagreements should be handled respectfully. If necessary, the DMM Team may assist in resolving disputes.

5.Commission Responsibilities

By accepting a commission, a Verified Mod Author agrees to make a reasonable effort to fulfill the agreed requirements.

  • Commission details, pricing, and expectations should be agreed upon before work begins.
  • Any significant changes to the original agreement should be discussed with the requester.
  • Authors should not accept commissions they know they cannot reasonably complete.
  • If a commission cannot be completed, the requester should be informed as soon as reasonably possible.
  • Authors must not deliberately misrepresent their progress or deliver unrelated or incomplete work as a finished commission.
  • Authors should respect agreed deadlines and communicate delays as early as possible.

Any refunds, cancellations, or payment-related disagreements remain subject to the agreements made between the author and requester.

6.Originality & Intellectual Property

Verified Mod Authors must respect the work of other creators.

  • Do not steal, repackage, or claim another author's work as your own.
  • Using another creator's assets or modifications requires appropriate permission or authorization.
  • Do not sell or redistribute content in violation of applicable licenses or permissions.
  • If your commission relies on third-party assets, clearly communicate any relevant limitations to the requester.
  • Do not deliberately copy another author's commissioned work and present it as an original creation.

Using publicly available tools, guides, or resources is acceptable, provided their respective licenses and permissions are respected.

7.Transparency & Honesty

Trust is an important part of the DMM Commission System.

Verified Mod Authors must:

  • Be honest about their experience and abilities.
  • Only showcase work they have actually created or meaningfully contributed to.
  • Clearly disclose relevant limitations before accepting commissions.
  • Avoid making false claims about their qualifications or previous projects.
  • Provide accurate information during the verification process.

Misrepresenting your work or qualifications may result in the removal of your VMA status.

8.Verification & Reverification

The DMM Team reserves the right to review an author's qualifications and Verified Mod Author status.

  • Verification is granted at the discretion of the DMM Team.
  • Applicants may be asked to demonstrate their abilities or explain their previous work.
  • The DMM Team may request additional information during the verification process.
  • In exceptional circumstances, previously verified authors may be required to complete another verification.
  • Verification does not guarantee permanent access to the Commission System.
  • Meeting the minimum requirements does not automatically guarantee approval.

9.Removal of VMA Status

The DMM Team reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove Verified Mod Author status.

Reasons may include, but are not limited to:

  • Violating these guidelines.
  • Excessive or unauthorized use of AI-generated content.
  • Fraudulent or intentionally misleading behavior.
  • Repeatedly failing to fulfill agreed commissions without reasonable justification.
  • Stealing or misrepresenting another creator's work.
  • Harassment, abusive behavior, or serious misconduct.
  • Repeatedly ignoring reasonable requests from the DMM Team regarding violations.
  • Abusing the Commission System or deliberately exploiting requesters.

Depending on the circumstances, the DMM Team may issue warnings, temporarily suspend access, request reverification, or immediately revoke VMA status.

10.DMM's Role & Responsibilities

DMM provides a platform that connects requesters with Verified Mod Authors.

  • DMM does not guarantee the successful completion of any commission.
  • Agreements regarding pricing, payment, deadlines, and deliverables are made between the requester and the Mod Author.
  • VMA verification represents an assessment of an author's abilities and trustworthiness, not a guarantee of future performance.
  • The DMM Team may assist in resolving disputes but is not obligated to make decisions regarding refunds or compensation.
  • DMM is not a party to individual commission agreements unless explicitly stated otherwise.

11.Changes to These Guidelines

The DMM Team reserves the right to update these guidelines as the Commission System evolves.

  • Significant changes will be communicated through appropriate DMM channels.
  • Continued participation in the Commission System after updated guidelines take effect requires compliance with the revised rules.
